Why is There Product Safety and Liability
Many do not realize it, but product safety and liability is highly important to the entrepreneur. The act was passed during the year 1972 in order to provide safety standard for over fifteen thousand types of products. It is very important to recognize if the product defects are going to be hazardous to the consumers. When defects do arise in a product, the commission is going to request that the manufacture take the proper action to correct the problem. The act was amended during the year 1990, which is when it was signed into law. Product safety and liability protects consumers against hazards. The amended law that has been established has set guidelines that are much stricter for reporting when a product is defected. Manufactures who fail to report their court awards or product liability could be fined up to $1.25 million.

There are many different liability laws that protect people. If those laws were never established, then people would be coming into contact with dangerous products more. This is because the manufacture would not care; they wouldn’t be facing any fines or anything. Now that the manufactures are facing fines if their product is not safe, like they claim it is, they are more likely to put more money and more time into their products that they are creating. Most of the manufactures have a checklist that they go down in order to make sure they have met all of their necessary requirements to keep the product safe so that they would not be facing liability fines.
